Design a HTML page...

From my humble experience of designing web pages. I'd noted few rules which apply if you'd like to have a great homepage. Here are some of them:
(They might be already known to you).

GOOD things to do:

  • Write about topics that interest you & be simple.
  • On each page include a title, headers and your copyright information.
  • Include a link back to your home page.
  • Keep your pages as small as possible in size
  • Keep your links up-to-date.

NEVER do these:

  • Add many graphics (3 or 4 is maximum)
  • Make a page larger than 30k (only if you had to).
  • Forget to check your spelling and grammar.
  • Use a completely different layout or color scheme on each page.
  • Forget to give your readers a feedback mechanism, such as a mailto.
  • Use large, slow-to-load graphics if you don't need them.
  • Use "click here" links. Make your link text descriptive.
  • Let your pages get old. Keep them fresh and interesting.
